Anika Rose is an American actor and singer. Her best-known role is as Tiana the first Disney African American Princess. Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in the year 2011. Rose was the Oscar-winning actress who was Lorrell on the screen in Dreamgirls. Anika Noni (born June 6th, 1972) is a vocalist and American actress. She was best known for her role as Tiana, the Disney Princess who is one of the very first African American princess in The Princess and the Frog (2009). She was named a Disney legend in the year 2011. The actress is also known for her roles in the film Lorrell in Dreamgirls, the Academy Award winning film (2006) as well as LaVerne in Starz's Power. Her other notable roles include her theatre performances, specifically for her starring roles as Emmie Thibodeaux in Caroline or Change, the Broadway show Caroline or Change (2004) for which she won the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Musical. Also, she starred as Beneatha Younger as part of A Raisin in the Sun, the Broadway adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun (2014) in which she received nominations for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
