Katarina Wit began skating at five. It was not long before her talent became evident, and in Karl-Marx-Stadt she enrolled in a school specifically for kids with athletic abilities. The coach Jutta was also at the school. Witt was second place at the World Championships of Copenhagen in 1982. It was her first appearance. Since then her elegance and grace caught everyone's attention. Then she began dominating this particular sport. Olympic Success at Sarajevo, at the Sarajevo Winter Games in 1984, Katarina won the gold medal for figure skating in women's in a highly competitive contest. After four years, her win, she managed to take home an even intense race. Actually, she didn't win the contest for free skating, however, she was awarded gold for her results during the compulsory short and figure programme. Witt was the first woman ever since Sonja Haenie to be an apex figure skater. Hall of Fame Witt had a great deal of success in her acting career however, she returned to figure skating to participate in the Lillehammer Winter Games of 1994. Witt was seventh in the competition, and she delighted fans despite not winning an award. It was in 1995 that Witt got inducted into World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
